What is Athletic Leadership?

Athletic Leadership is an elective course offered at Semiahmoo Secondary as a way for grade 10 students to take up leadership opportunities around the school through athletic games and events. This class is lead by Semiahmoo's Athletic Director, Mr. Plumb. As a class, Leadership students are in charge of planning and running pep rallies, various sport events, games, and tournaments, as well as the athletic banquet held at the end of the year for all of our school's athletes. Leadership students officiate many sports games throughout the year and are given volunteer hours for as many hours as they help out for across the course of the year. They are paramount in allowing games/competitions and all athletic related events to run.

Interested in joining Athletic Leadership in the future?

Athletic Leadership is an elective course, so in order to apply, when you start filling out your course selection for grade 10, you should be able a link which will allow you to fill out a form for Athletic Leadership under application based courses. This form will have you answer questions about yourself and why you would like to join Leadership along with what attributes you could bring to the course. As Athletic Leadership is one class linearly, there are a limited amount of slots available. As fun as it is or sounds to be apart of Athletic Leadership (and it is!), it is a class where you will be held to a certain level of maturity and responsibility and where we try to eliminate "bystander theory" by ensuring everybody is involved and engaged, so be sure to consider the the amount of work you're willing to put in before you apply.

Hope to see you next year!
